On Saturday 18th October we had a lovely afternoon getting messy with paints and creating crafts all related to the seasons of the year. The children created all-season calendars and autumn cards; there were also painting activities, which included vegetable and leaf printing.
We decorated leaves and then wrote our own personal prayers on them to hang from a tree. These prayers were used as part of the simple service of praise and thanksgiving that followed the crafts. As part of the service, and with the help of all the children, Liz told the parable of the mustard seed – “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches.” Through the story, the children watched the mustard seed grow and all the birds come and use it for their nests and protection.
We also sang songs and played games, which involved a lot of running around and a parachute!
Do come and join us for more fun, craft activities and our Christingle Service at Lindridge School on the 13th December at 1pm. We look forward to seeing you there.
