On 30th November Stanford church filled with members of both Teme Valley North and Teme Valley South, to celebrate the transition of Stanford to TVS.
Lindridge choir led a choral evensong, and, with Stanford being one of our most acoustically blessed churches, the place resounded to joyful singing.
Archdeacon Fred preached well on the theme of St Andrew, who the church remembers on November 30th, and how each of us are called to follow Christ without hesitation, and so movement is inherent in our Christian journey. He pointed out that Stanford church building itself had been on the move as the original church at Stanford court was moved to make way for the lake there, resulting in the current location with its outstanding views across the valley.
A presentation was also made to Pete Thorp who has completed his ministry in TVN and is now licensed in TVS. He received a gift of thanksgiving from the parish of TVN – a pottery plaque made at Glasshampton monastry with the inscription ‘peace and goodwill’ – our feelings entirely in sending him on across the river.
The pictures below were taken at the supper in Stanford Village Hall which followed the service.
