It’s always a delight to have the school in the Church. Sadly the traditional walk and picnic on Ascension Day was, quite literally, a wash out, but we marked the event with a short service of hymns, readings and prayer.
This is the day the Lord has made.
We will rejoice and be glad in it.
Louise spoke of her incredible experience seeing a moving butterfly bush and explained how the butterfly was an ancient Christian symbol of the Easter Ascension in the wonder of new life, to which we responded with:
If I were a butterfly, I’d thank you Lord for giving me wings. But I just thank you Father for making me, me.
Members of St. Lawrence Club had made coloured butterflies to fly about the Church, and four young men read out poems most movingly with a dignity and composure which belied their years.
Thank you all.
